Best Outdoor Dining in the Twin Cities

Categories

Nothing says warm weather like eating al fresco. When the temperature hits 70 degrees, everyone rushes to get the best seat on the patio. The goods news, though, is the Twin Cities has no shortage of outdoor dining. But some spots are better than others. Depending on the occasion or event, stop by one of our favorite outdoor dining destinations.

Date Night: La Grolla452 Selby Avenue, St. Paul

Upscale meets relaxed at La Grolla. Its Italian cuisine matches its more intimate setting and makes for the perfect place to impress a certain someone or celebrate a special occasion with your significant other. We suggest ordering the scallops in fried angel hair pasta appetizer to share.

Great View: 6Smith294 East Grove Lane, Wayzata

A new addition to Wayzata, 6Smith is located in the Boat Works Building right on Lake Minnetonka. The amazing rooftop bar overlooks the bay. Rooftop too busy? Don’t worry, there are patios lining the exterior of this artisan inspired bistro and the extensive wine and spirits list is available no matter where you are sitting.

Downtown: Marin901 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis

Among the active streets of downtown Minneapolis, you will find a lovely courtyard patio complete with a gas fire pit and full-service bar. Marin is the perfect starting point for that Saturday night out. If you’re looking for something a little more action-packed, check out Marin’s special events like its hands-on cocktail class.

Large Group: Butcher and the Boar1121 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis

The James Beard nominated, award-winning restaurant known as Butcher and the Boar is our favorite place to bring large parties thanks to its vibrant and fun beer garden. And yes, like the name implies, Butcher and the Boar is geared more towards the meat eater. However, we have discovered ample non-meat options on the menu that are to die for.
